Dr. Ochs, Director of the Technical Entrepreneurship Capstone program, joined the Lehigh University faculty in 1979 as an assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering, was promoted to associate professor in 1983, and to full professor in 1990. He founded and directed the Computer-Aided Design Labs in the ME & Mech Department from 1980 to 1999. He won the Dupont Young Faculty Award (’79-’83) and Lehigh’s Outstanding Young Faculty Award (’85). From ’85-’95 Ochs did extensive industry consulting and was involved in the startup of three companies. From ’99 to the present, he has directed Lehigh’s Integrated Product Development (IPD) program – now called the Technical Entrepreneurship Capstone program. What started out in ’94 as the capstone experience for mechanical engineering majors is now cross-listed in engineering, business, and arts with more than 300 students from over 20 majors participating each year. The pilot program for this course won the ’96 ASME curriculum innovation award and the ’97 Newcomen Society’s award for the promotion of America’s free-enterprise system. Since 2012, Ochs has directed Lehigh’s Professional Master’s in Technical Entrepreneurship program.

Lisa Getzler is Co-Executive Director of Lehigh University’s Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation, which is designed to create a culture of entrepreneurship across the university, promote innovative thinking, and foster the realization of entrepreneurial ideas in any field. Since 2001, she has served as Associate Director of Lehigh’s award-winning Technical Entrepreneurship Capstone (formerly Integrated Product Development) program, in which business, engineering, and arts & sciences students work together to produce and market new products. Lisa also directs both the EUREKA! student entrepreneurship competitions and the Lehigh Entrepreneurs Network. Along with helping undergraduate students through the early stages of venture creation and product development, Lisa deals with intellectual property issues for student entrepreneurs and develops assessment tools for student performance in multi-disciplined, team-based, experiential learning environments. The innovative assessment measures she developed for the TE Capstone program have been recognized as best practices in assessment of student performance and have been disseminated and adopted by similar programs across the country through her publications and workshops/presentations at national conferences. These works have been the basis for grant partnerships with peer institutions garnering National Science Foundation funding and have been recognized by ABET, the accrediting agency for academic programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology, as a meaningful way to evaluate students in senior capstone design courses.
As an entrepreneur, Lisa founded Open A New Window, a boutique interior design company, and was a freelance theatrical producer and director. She is a co-founder of two nonprofit theatrical companies and served as a board member and advisor to an educational theatrical youth program.
